New Entrants

Parents of New Entrant children enrolled on our waiting list will receive a letter with their child’s pre-entry visit days approximately 6 weeks before their child is due to start school.

Children can visit the classroom on three occasions before they begin school (usually on their 5th birthday) to become familiar with the classroom and other children.

Helpful Tips

If you are intending to buy a bag for school, ensure that it is large enough to take a drink bottle, a lunch box, a reading folder, library books, jersey (jacket / swimming togs in season)

Children settle in better in the mornings if they are early enough to unpack themselves and have a little play. The buzzer is sounded at 8:55am.

Please telephone the school in the morning if your child is going to be absent.

It is a great help if the children are able to:

•  Recognise their own name

•  Manage pencils, crayons, scissors

•  Manage their own clothes and belongings

•  Manage the toilet unassisted – boys – urinal

•  Sit and listen

•  Follow simple instructions and directions (i.e. do what they are asked)
