Surprising Spinulosa Starfish
Species
⭐
Have you ever heard of a starfish? Did you know that there are more than 2,000 species of starfish? Today I am going to tell you about a Spinulosa starfish and what is special about them like… A spinulosa starfish is a echinoderm which means they have numerous limbs, they are not mammals.
⭐
A spinulosa starfish like other starfish has a small star shape on its underside where it can eat from. The spinulosa starfish also like most starfish are sort of bumpy and rough.
⭐
Like other starfish the spinladosa starfish probaly won’t say in one place for very long. Starfish have many different habitats some of these include… Seagrass meadows, kelp forests, tidal pools, refs, rock pools and some sandy beaches.
⭐

Starfish are carnivores so they eat meat. This is what some starfish eat…. Mussels, oysters, shrimp, sea cucumbers, algae, kelp, sea grasses, and some times they eat small fish if they can catch them. This is a big diet some starfish don’t eat as much however some starfish have other things they would eat.
⭐
So now you know about the spinladosa starfish but do you know about the facts that are a little weird? here is some of them.
Starfish do not have backbones which makes them invertebrates. Starfish don’t have a brain also they don’t have blood like you or I would. But starfish have two stomachs. Starfish aren't fish which is why they are called sea star. A starfish can change gender like a snail can.
⭐
The spinladosa starfish feels rough and bumpy, it has multiple habitats as it does not stay in one place for very long and has a rather large diet.

Our visit to Ashburton Museum  (Thursday, 18 May)

Because we had been learning about the war and how the ANZACS fought for our country. We went down to the Ashburton Museum to look at the their ANZAC Exhibition.  We learnt alot about what would have been in the soldiers kitbags and what they and their families would send to each other.  We made poppies and wrote postcards or letters. On the way back to school we stopped and paid our respects to the local fallen soldiers at the Centoaph,

The swimming fun day
I was so, so pumped! I was wondering if I was going to get 1st 2nd, 3rd or last. Just a second later we we were striding to the EA Networks Center.
I was telling my friends how pumped I was. Then suddenly we were there. We strode into the swimming pool. Wow it was hot and stuffy. First we had to get dressed and then I was on the edge of my seat waiting for my race.

The year 5 girls swam too more races and a was up. They finished the  year 6 boys were up. Then suddenly they were finished only 1 more race it was it  was suddenly over finished it was my trein.

I was nervous and excited at the  same time.then suddenly hard on your marks get set, ( eeehhh) the air horn went, I was trying to go as fast as I could go suddenly it was over. I was proud of myself then I got changed. Red house came 1st, blue house came 2nd, yellow house came 3rd and greenhouse came last. Then we walked back to school.

Golden Duck On The Menu                  23/03/17

“Golden duck on the menu’’ I heard as I finished padding up and walked out onto the cricket pitch ready to face my first ball. I got out there and asked for centre. He said yes and I was ready to face. This is the moment, my first cricket game. I felt so nervous I felt like I was shaking, shaking like Kaikoura.
My first ball came zooming fast, I got hold of it and bang! The ball went flying over the boundary for four. I heard my Dad yell out “Nice shot, Tom’’.  The feeling inside my body felt as good as getting presents on your birthday. The second ball was coming at me as fast as a meteor coming from outer space. The ball was right in front of me I swung for it and it went for six. At the end of the innings I got 18 runs and 3 wickets. When I walked to my Mum and Dad, Mum gave me a pat on the back .

I had a great Cricket debut and I’m happy I didn’t get Golden Duck.

Te Tiriti ō Takahē
The Treaty of Takahē

We have been looking at what makes a great learning environment. As a class, we discussed what was important to each of us to be able learn and to feel comfortable in our learning space.  We also identified what we can bring to our class. We learnt about the Treaty of Waitangi and created our own class treaty by designing feathers with what we bring to the environment and what is important to us for our learning environment.
With all our feathers we made a class korowai (cloak) to display our class treaty to remind us each day of the learning space we would like and all the attributes we each bring with us.
