Kiwi 3 and Kiwi 1 had a great visit to the Ashburton Art Gallery last week. We had a chance to view some wonderful art and talk about what we could see and how the artist made them.

Matariki
We celebrated Matariki, the Maori New Year in the last day of school.
We had fun making star shaped biscuits and headbands with 7 stars.  It was such a cold day we had hot chocolate with our Matariki biscuits.

The Holy Spirit
We are learning about the Holy Spirit in Kiwi 3. We have been talking about what we might do when the Holy Spirit is working in us and how that feels.

Kiwi 3 children are working at talking about our Maths thinking, sharing our ideas with each other.
To do this we are doing a lot of drawing around numbers and problems in addition and subtraction.
Our favourite saying is "Prove it".

We have had a great start to the term.
Cross country training is well underway and the children are getting fit!

We are focusing on Technology for topic and having a to really challenge ourselves to find a new way to wrap sandwiches so we can reduce rubbish in the playground. We have been experimenting with different sandwich wrapping, feel free to pop in and check out the results of our experiments.

We love PE with Mark on Thursdays. We have had fun with playing mini golf with hockey sticks.

Reduce, Reuse, recycle and Re-think

Sheryl from Masterguard visited us today to talk about recycling and reducing our rubbish. We are learning all about how rubbish impacts us and our environment in the Kiwi Team. Watch this space, we have some great ideas coming up.

We are becoming independent workers at reading time.
We have been working hard at writing time. We have some amazing wee writers in Kiwi 3

So much excitement this afternoon, we watched a caterpillar spin it's chrysalis! It all happened very fast. The children made great observations, we are all becoming caterpillar experts

Sorry about the sideways clip, we are working on rotating it!

Welcome back everyone.
We have had a great start to the year, what a lovely wee bunch.

We have been learning about how to be "Bucket Fillers ".  We know that being kind and including others makes people feel good and 'fills their bucket'.

Next week we begin learning and writing about caterpillars. Come and see the caterpillars in our class, there are 5 already!

Guided reading begins next week and we will have a book to read every night.
