Odd Years- Camp- Year 7 and 8 currently attend Camp at Wainui YMCA. There are a variety of activities provided which are challenging and fun

Often fundraising is undertaken to help offset costs of these EOTC activities- in particular the camp fees . Parents volunteers are requested to help.

SPORTING:
All trips and outings must meet safety requirements. To assist with safety and supervision, parental involvement is sometime required.

TEAM GAMES:
With the valued help and support of parents netball, mini ball, basketball, tee ball and slow pitch teams take part in local competitions after school hours. These run under the umbrella of The St Joseph’s Sports Club. We also have the services of visiting coaches in a variety of codes involving all class groups e.g. rugby tennis etc.

ATHLETIC SPORTS:
The school Athletic Sports takes place in Term 4 of each year at the Domain Oval. Place getters are then selected to compete in the County Schools Athletic Sports. Those chosen then participate in the Canterbury Athletic day in Christchurch.

CROSS COUNTRY:
Middle and Senior students also participate in the Schools Cross Country in Term 1/2 and if chosen take part in the County Cross Country. Junior School Cross Country is also part of the school programme, this is run at the school.

SWIMMING:
The school uses the Ashburton Community Pool for 8 – 10 days per year for small group instruction given by qualified coaches,. The children are grouped and taught according to Swim Safe standards. There is a small charge for this tuition which is added to the Activity accounts. The Senior school swimming sports are held annually during Term 1 at the Ashburton Community Pool.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS SPORTS TOURNAMENT:
On occasions Years 5 – 8 students may travel to Christchurch for this tournament during Term 3. Our senior students also participate in the Canterbury Sports Day held in Christchurch.

VISITING SPORT CODES:
On occasions throughout the school year we have other schools visit to play sport with our school in a number of codes. This can be rugby, netball, cricket, etc. This is played during school time.
