HEALTH AT SCHOOL

GENERAL HEALTH INFORMATION

The following pdf's offer health advice:

ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL:
If your child is not attending  school on a particular day, due to sickness or for any  other reasons, please phone the school office by 9:30am.  Once your child has returned to school the teacher must receive a written explanation note for their absence.  This is so the school can reassure the Board of Trustees that we are complying with Attendance requirements.

A daily check is kept on absences and punctuality.  If a child arrives late to school they must call to the office first before going into their classroom.  If students are to be absent during the term for a holiday please advise the school office in writing.

CONTAGIOUS DISEASES:
The school would appreciate being notified if your child develops a contagious disease or has an outbreak of head lice.  If we are informed we are able to take action that may protect other students.

FIRST AID TREATMENT AND SICKNESS:
Should a child suffer an accident at school, they will be attended to, and if it is felt necessary then the parent will be contacted immediately.  Please advise the school if pupils need to take any form of medical prescription during the school day (i.e. Inhalers etc). If your child is on medication please send a written authority for administration.  All medication must be named and will be kept in either the office or the teachers drawer – depending on medication.
A list is kept of allergy sufferers so please notify the school of any allergies from which your child suffers.

CROSSING THE ROAD:
If you are parking across the road from the school entrance we ask that all children use the pedestrian crossing before and after school until 3:10pm.  We remind parents they may find it more convenient to park on Cameron Street, by the school gate.  By law children over the age of 8 are allowed to ride bikes to school.  Helmets are compulsory.
